Like you Mark, I am also just getting started with the program. If you go to my page (Monty Mills) you will see information on my decision to get a Service Dog and my living situation. One major question that I have had is how the addition of the Service Dog is generally looked at by existing pets. Since getting divorced and moving to the country, my family consists of a large Bloodhound (Hokie), a large Silver Lab (Judge) that is just what you want in a lab. Well behaved and extremely devoted, a large rescued dog that is part Shepherd and part Golden Retriever, and one crazy cat (Scratchy) that thinks she runs the show and is not afraid of the dogs at all. This is my present family and I need some voices of experience giving me the benefit of their having been through this. My plan is to have Marley and Hokie sleep in the fenced back yard where each dog has hos own crate in a small barn – they have it made in my opinion. Judge and the Service Dog would probably sleep in the house or I could just have the Service Dog in at night. I am very much looking forward to this program and dedicating whatever is necessary to make it work to my benefit as well as the dogs, all of them. Any responses to this question would be extremely helpful.
